About RE/MAX Olson & Associates, Inc.
Our company was founded in 1987 as Todd C. Olson Estate Brokerage, Inc., although its foundation began in the 1950´s. Todd´s father Carl helped build the Forest E. Olson Co. into the largest real estate company in the west, with 30 offices and over 3000 agents before being sold to Coldwell Banker in the 1970´s. Todd began his management career with Coldwell Banker in 1980.
Todd C. Olson Estate Brokerage enjoyed steady growth under Todd´s tutelage, growing to 75 agents by 1996. Todd then brought in a partner, Keith Myers, to assist in growth and add a different dimension. Grow they did, adding top associates and achieving #1 market share in the area. With over 100 agents, Olson & Myers added a second office in 1999, positioning the company to dominate the North San Fernando Valley. Still they searched for something better.
In May of 2000, after careful analysis, Todd C. Olson Estate Brokerage joined the RE/MAX Network of Independent Companies. It offered access to technology, and the world´s largest Real Etate Company. Today we have 320 agents in 7 offices. |

It offered access to technology, the world´s largest referral network and brand name awareness that would help the company grow into new markets. In 2001, the Weslake Village office opened. In 2002, Granada Hills opened, then North Ranch in 2003.
RE/MAX Olson & Associates is 4 offices strong with nearly 250 of the region´s finest real estate agents. The Company´s sales exceeded $2,000,000,000 annually. Affiliated services provide the one stop shop that consumers want and that founders are fulfilling their core goal ? to be the best for the best.
About RE/MAX
We´re a part of one of the fastest-growing real estate networks in the world, RE.MAX. Since RE/MAX was founded in 1973 it has grown every single year, and now has 110,000 Sales Associates serving clients in 58 countries on six continents. In fact, we're the only major network that is still privately held by its original founders. Because of this stability and because we are not subject to the demands of stockholders, we are able to provide the best support and services to our Sales Associates so that they can serve their clients effectively.
RE/MAX Sales Associates are some of the most productive and professional in the business. This is because they tend to have much more experience, nearly 13 years on average, which allows them to successfully do business in both up and down markets. The average RE/MAX Sales Associate closes more transactions each year than the average real estate agent.
RE/MAX also has the most technologically advanced systems to assist our clients. RE/MAX International and RE/MAX of California & Hawaii both have web sites to assist buyers and sellers with useful information and thousands of property listings. In addition to our site, all the other RE/MAX offices in California and Hawaii also have their own web sites with a wealth of local information. Through our excellent referral system, we can put you in touch with top professionals in other RE/MAX offices anywhere in our state, across the country, or around the world!
RE/MAX Sales Associates are also your neighbors who care about the community. Many of us participate in local community organizations. RE/MAX is also the only real estate sponsor of the Children's Miracle Network, which raises money for children's hospitals all over North America.
Please contact us. We are happy to assist you with all your real estate needs.
RE/MAX Sales Associates are full-time professionals who are dedicated to their careers. That explains why RE/MAX Sales Associates are among the most experienced and best educated in the business. RE/MAX Sales Associates average about 11 years of real estate experience, twice the national average for REALTORS®, and out-produce the average REALTOR by a margin of 3 to1.
They also lead the industry in advanced professional designations. RE/MAX is where you will find the experienced professionals. They have successfully weathered all types of markets and have the expertise and support to take advantage of diverse situations.
RE/MAX International was established in 1973 in Englewood, Colorado, and was based on a simple, but profoundly revolutionary idea ... the "RE/MAX Concept." What would happen if real estate offices contained only experienced, full-time top producers? What if these top independent business people shared office expenses equitably, like an association of doctors or lawyers? And what if these top producers could offer their clients the best services, cutting-edge technology as well as an effective referral network?
Today the Concept has proven itself ... RE/MAX has grown into the most dynamic and innovative real estate organization in the world with more than 113,000 Sales Associates in more than 5,000 offices around the world. The RE/MAX International network spans over 45 countries
RE/MAX of California & Hawaii was established in 1982, when Sidney Syvertson and Stephen Haselton converted Spring Realty, one of the nation's 10 largest privately held real estate companies, to the RE/MAX system. Richard Purvis joined as a Regional Director in 1995. Today, California and Hawaii is the fastest growing region in the entire RE/MAX network with close to 9,000 Sales Associates and nearly 300 offices.
Mission Statement: To achieve Premier Market Presence by expanding the network of committed franchisees and quality Sales Associates.

RE/MAX International, Inc.
Dave Liniger is generally credited with doing more than anyone in the real estate industry to improve the working environment and income potential of sales agents. He is recognized as a leading prognosticator of industry trends and has been inducted into the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) Hall of Leaders and the REBAC (ABR) Hall of Fame.
Liniger attended the University of Indiana and became interested in real estate while stationed in Phoenix, Ariz. with the United States Air Force. After working for both a 100 percent commission company and a traditional brokerage, he co-founded RE/MAX in Denver, Colo. in 1973.
The name "RE/MAX" was coined from the words "real estate" and "maximums." In exchange for sharing in office overhead and paying a management fee, RE/MAX Associates receive the highest possible compensation as well as a variety of benefits and services, including RE/MAX Satellite Network (RSN), the industry's first proprietary satellite system, advanced educational opportunities and cutting edge technology. The concept has attracted experienced, top-producing agents who lead the industry in individual sales and professional education.
Liniger is nationally recognized as an expert in time management, sales training, recruiting and motivation. He has been featured in Entrepreneur, Forbes, Fortune, Inc., Success and other leading publications and has appeared extensively on television and radio throughout North America. He is a recipient of the Special Achievement Award from the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS), the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, and The Warren Bennis Award for Leadership Excellence from the Global Institute for Leadership Development.
A multi-engine, instrument rated commercial pilot, golfer and Arabian horse breeder, Liniger has been a NASCAR driver and owned Team RE/MAX Racing. He, along with other Team RE/MAX drivers, competes in the Grand-Am Series Rolex 24-hour race at Daytona International Speedway. Liniger was one of a three-pilot crew who attempted to launch the "Team RE/MAX" around-the-world stratospheric helium balloon expedition from Alice Springs, Australia in late 1998. He is co-owner of the often-honored Sanctuary Golf Course near Sedalia, Colorado. Numerous charity golf tournaments have raised millions of dollars at Sanctuary since its opening in 1997.
He is also co-founder of the Denver-area conservation center, The Wildlife Experience, an entirely new concept for appreciation and understanding of wildlife. The 14-acre, 100,000 square foot facility located South of Denver is designed as a quality venue for exceptional cultural exhibits, an educational center for all ages and an ideal gathering place for social, civic and business activities, The Wildlife Experience promotes wildlife, its conservation, the many forms of art which celebrate it and a variety of educational tools to learn more about it.
GAIL LINIGER
Vice Chairman of the Board and Co-founder
RE/MAX International, Inc.
Gail A. Liniger was born in St. Louis, Mo. and received her marketing degree from Southern Illinois University. Prior to joining RE/MAX, Liniger was employed with Ralston Purina Company for five years as Customer Service Department Supervisor.
She moved to Denver, Colo. in 1973 - was the first employee to join RE/MAX - and the same year was promoted to Vice President. She became Executive Vice President in 1978 and was elected President in 1979. In 1991, she was named Chief Executive Officer and in April 2002 was made Vice Chairman of the Board.
In 1988, Liniger was recognized as one of the top ten U.S. women for her outstanding achievement in business, the arts and public service. In 1989, she was awarded "Entrepreneur of the Year" for the state of Colorado in the real estate and construction category by the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young, and Inc. Magazine. From a field of nearly 8,000 participants nationally, she was named first runner-up.
She is a licensed Colorado real estate broker and holds several REALTOR designations including Certified Residential Broker (CRB), Certified Relocation Professional (CRP), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) and the (QSC) Quality Service Certification.
An avid golfer, Liniger is co-owner of Sanctuary Golf Course where numerous charity golf tournaments have raised millions of dollars. She is also co-founder of the Denver-area conservation center, The Wildlife Experience, an entirely new concept for appreciation and understanding of wildlife.
On a more personal level, her almost miraculous recovery from the near-fatal crash of a small private airplane in 1983 has served to inspire and motivate people both inside and outside the RE/MAX organization.

Kimmel Overcomes Weather to Win Again at Pocono
Not even Mother Nature could stop ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran Frank Kimmel from picking up his third career victory at Pocono Raceway on July 22.
The seven-time and defending champion, who went a lap down after pitting under green when his car picked up a vibration early in the race, capitalized on Chase Miller's mechanical problems to win the Pennsylvania 200 at the Long Pond track by 1.116 seconds.
"Wow, this is a really big win for us," Kimmel said. "I wasn't sure how it was going to play out when I felt the vibration there early in the race. That was totally my call because it really felt like I had a tire going down when I was entering the corner. So I made the call to come down pit road and change the tires under green. The team checked everything over and it looked fine, so maybe I was still a little gun-shy from the June race when we had those tire problems. But we were able to get back on the lead lap with about 30 laps to go and made one last pit stop which got us back into position to take the win."
Jeremy Clements, who started sixth, led four laps before settling for second.
Chad McCumbee, who normally competes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, finished third and led two laps in his first ARCA RE/MAX Series start since Nashville Superspeedway in April. Rookie-of-the-Year contender Dexter Bean finished fourth, recovering from a 36th-place finish at Pocono in June.
The 200-mile race was delayed by 90 minutes due to heavy fog and rain showers, which consumed the 2.5-mile track for much of the morning. Officials thought they had found a break in the weather at mid-afternoon; however, a brief spout of rain emerged during parade laps, forcing the 41-car starting field to take the green flag under caution conditions.
The series' next race is the Shop 'n Save 150 on July 28 at Gateway International Raceway. It will be televised live on SPEED Channel at 9 p.m. ET.

RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship
How to Qualify:
Learn more about how you can compete in the largest grass-roots long drive competition in the world.
The Premier Grass-Roots Golf Event on the Globe
Since RE/MAX became the title sponsor in 1995, the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship has evolved from a low-key event to the premier grass-roots golf event in the world ? one that includes golfers from virtually every corner of the globe, and one whose finals are televised annually on ESPN.
Golfers from a dozen countries compete every October at the Long Drive finals in Mesquite, Nev. Competitors come from more than 125 countries to qualify. The 2005 finals were played Oct. 22 at The Palms Golf Club. Sean "The Beast" Fister of Little Rock, Ark., won the Open Division title with a blast of 377 yards, 3 inches and collected $100,000 from the record purse of $500,000.
Other 2005 champions included Stacey Shinnick of Encino, Calif., in the Women's Division (311 yards, 21 inches); Gerry James of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in the Seniors Division (366 yards, 31 inches); and Steve Griffith of Hamilton, Ohio in the Super Seniors Division (320 yards, 3 inches).
The 2006 Long Drive finals will take place Oct. 24-28. The finals air annually during the Christmas season on ESPN and ESPN2 and are broadcast several times throughout the year.
Only within the past 10 years, with the creation and evolution of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, has long drive become a unified global event whose winners deserve the titles "world champions." The growth of the sport of long drive can be traced to a confluence of events, including:
- The creation of Long Drivers of America (LDA). Composed of long drive specialists committed to the growth of the sport, LDA was formed in 1994 by Texan Art Sellinger and Californian Randy Souza, two long drive competitors themselves. Sellinger was a two-time U.S. national long drive champion. In 2000, Sellinger purchased sole ownership of LDA and moved the company's headquarters to Southlake, Texas.
- LDA has more than 600 dues-paying competitive members - associate and junior memberships are available as well - and its membership roster continues to grow as the sport gains increased exposure both in North America and abroad.
- RE/MAX corporate sponsorship. RE/MAX, whose network encompasses more than 114,000 agents in more than 6,000 offices on six continents, has elevated the sport of Long Drive through its participation and support. Before RE/MAX became involved in such a major way, the U.S. National Long Drive Championship was a low-key affair with a total purse of $50,000. Now it's a worldwide competition with a $500,000 purse and an avid following around the globe.
- Television coverage by ESPN and ESPN2. Tape-delayed broadcasts each December of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship have become a holiday staple for TV sports audiences. The broadcast also airs in numerous countries around the world.
- The emergence of a superstar, Canadian Jason Zuback. Zuback, a pharmacist-turned-golfer from Calgary, Alberta, won four consecutive RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships from 1996-99. That feat garnered exposure for long drive and made Zuback a household name. Zuback was inducted into the LDA Hall of Fame last October.
Other recent RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship milestones include:
- The 1996 creation of a senior division for hitters 45 and up.
- The 2000 introduction of a women's division.
- The launch of junior divisions for boys and girls in 2002.
History
The RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship evolved out of the National Long Drive Championship, which ran from 1975 through 1993 under the aegis of "Golf Digest." That competition launched the careers of such well-known and well-respected long drivers as Mike Dunaway, Evan "Big Cat" Williams, Wedgy Winchester, Terry Forcum and six competitors who have subsequently been elected to the LDA Hall of Fame - Sean Fister, Scott DeCandia, Mike Gorton, Michael Hooper, Art Sellinger and Bobby Wilson.
One dramatic change in long driving during the RE/MAX era has been the longer distances posted by champions. Just as PGA Tour players drive the ball appreciably longer on average than they did a decade ago, long drivers have also kicked their games up a notch.
Whereas drives of 325 yards in the 1980s and early 1990s gave hitters a chance at making money, today's power hitters typically need to post at least 350 or 360 yards to advance in the qualifying rounds. At the RE/MAX world finals in Mesquite, long drive champions are more apt to finish closer to the 400-yard mark than the 300-yard mark.
The RE/MAX Balloon
RE/MAX Balloon Fleet
A company image seven stories tall. Multiply that by more than 90 and you have the largest fleet of hot air balloons in the world. Across North America and now increasingly around the globe, the red, white, and blue balloons emblazoned with the RE/MAX logo participate in balloon meets, highlight charitable and business promotions, and drift above athletic events.
And as the size of the actual fleet continues to grow, images of the tricolor RE/MAX Balloon logo multiply through every visual form of advertising and promotion. The RE/MAX Balloon, its logo form, and the accompanying "Above the Crowd"® slogan are all increasingly equated in the public mind with the RE/MAX organization itself.
Order the Ballooning with RE/MAX booklet.
Soaring Home Balloon
The most eye-catching member of the fleet is the Soaring Home special-shape balloon. Children and pets peek from the windows of this whimsical house, which has wide eyes, a button nose and a big grin. A RE/MAX "Sold" sign stands out front and small RE/MAX Balloons fly overhead.
Light as houses go but heavy for a balloon, the special-shape envelope weighs nearly 800 pounds. Inflated, it is almost 60 feet high and 55 feet wide. Soaring Home appears at sporting events and balloon festivals across North America.
The First RE/MAX Balloon
Admittedly, when RE/MAX first began its relationship with hot-air ballooning in 1978, the motivation was pretty straightforward: as a fledgling real estate network we needed a marketing image that would get noticed.
Just five years old at the time, RE/MAX already held more market share in Denver, the network's birthplace, than any competitor. Word of mouth was spreading fast about the network of highly experienced real estate agents who were proving to be more experienced, productive and knowledgeable than anyone else on the scene.
But market studies showed that among consumers in general, name recognition of RE/MAX ranked well below many lesser competitors.
Meanwhile, in New Mexico, a few RE/MAX agents and their regional leaders dreamed up the idea of entering a red-over-white-over blue RE/MAX Balloon in the 1978 Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. The RE/MAX ground crew wore jackets with patches that read, "Above the Crowd"®, a phrase devised by an Affiliate. And as often is the case with hot-air balloons, the RE/MAX Balloon really grabbed some attention. Plus, the imagery meshed perfectly with the RE/MAX network's emphasis on innovation, freedom and leadership.
RE/MAX International executives in Denver enthusiastically adopted the balloon image as the corporate logo. Within a year, Colorado had its own RE/MAX Balloon, and featured it prominently in a local television campaign. Within four months, RE/MAX held top name recognition in the Denver market.
Growth of the Fleet
The first gathering of RE/MAX Balloons was at the 1982 RE/MAX Great Balloon Race in Toronto. Six balloons participated.
Only six years later, 18 RE/MAX Hot Air Balloons were brought together outside Fenton, Mich. Spectacular helicopter footage of their morning flight over misty Midwestern countryside provided the basis of the RE/MAX "Take a Step Above the Crowd"® advertising campaign.
The third and thus far the largest mass ascension of RE/MAX Balloons took place in the foothills outside Denver in 1989, when 54 RE/MAX Balloons launched and were filmed in flight for yet another RE/MAX commercial. The grand RE/MAX ascension took place a day before the opening of the RE/MAX Balloon Festival, the largest charity balloon event ever held. Attracting 223 hot-air balloons from across North America, the festival was a fun-flying meet designed on a grand scale. Proceeds from the sale of tickets were shared between children's charities.
Promotion and Advertising
Besides highlighting promotional events, RE/MAX Balloons fly at all the major - and many minor - hot-air balloon meets across North America. RE/MAX Balloon pilots introduce school classes to ballooning, and couples ask to be married in the balloon.
The average RE/MAX Balloon makes 65 appearances a year, each event averaging more than an hour, for a fleet total of about 6,400 hours of advertising - equal to nearly nine months of 24-hour flying. RE/MAX expects to pass the 100-balloon fleet milestone in the near future.
The network's major graphic symbol, the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon image appears on "for sale" signs, bus benches, billboards, in print advertising and television commercials. It is one of the most widespread and recognizable images in business marketing.

Soaring Home® Balloon
Q: What's taller than a six-story building, wider than a tennis court and bright yellow?
A: Soaring Home ? the newest addition to the RE/MAX balloon fleet.
Shaped like a house ? complete with RE/MAX "Sold" sign ? Soaring Home has children and pets peeking from its windows and small RE/MAX balloons flying overhead. The envelope of the balloon weighs nearly 800 pounds. Inflated, it is almost 60 feet high and 55 feet wide.
The Soaring Home special shape hot air balloon is appearing across North America at sporting events and balloon festivals.
Community Involvement
Community involvement is highly valued at all levels of the RE/MAX organization - from individual Associates to RE/MAX offices, regions, and RE/MAX International.
RE/MAX cause marketing and charity fundraising take on many forms: Most recently, RE/MAX has become a national co-sponsor of the Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program at Komen Race for the Cure® events.
The RE/MAX organization has been the official real estate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network since 1992.
Each year, about 20 charities host fund-raising golf tournaments at Sanctuary, the private course of RE/MAX International co-founders Dave and Gail Liniger.
RE/MAX International is the first major sponsor of The Wildlife Experience, a conservation and community center promoting understanding of the natural world and its conservation through art and education.
All these venues and more represent the RE/MAX network's commitment to community involvement, serving the public beyond its real estate needs.
RE/MAX Advertising
Impressive Facts
In 2006, the RE/MAX network's projected impressions will reach more than 7.1 billion.
For the past four years, RE/MAX has held the dominant share of real estate advertising impressions on U.S. television among adults 25-54.
Offices and agents can purchase ads and customize them with personalized contact information.
In addition to advertising placed by individual RE/MAX Sales Associates, large-scale advertising is produced by RE/MAX regions and by RE/MAX International. RE/MAX launched its first national television advertising campaign in 1999. Today, it advertises across North America on television, radio, the Internet in popular print publications, and via events and sponsorships.
National advertising campaigns are financed through Sales Associates' contributions to the RE/MAX International Creative and Promotion Fund. The campaigns provide RE/MAX Affiliates with a unified advertising theme that can be used anywhere in the system.
Promotional packages in the multimedia campaigns include television and radio commercials, ad slicks, farming brochures, and other tools to aid Affiliates in their marketing and recruiting efforts. The RE/MAX International Creative and Promotion Fund advertises its materials in a printed catalog, and many of the items are available on RE/MAX Mainstreet.
In addition, RE/MAX has received continentwide publicity through articles in major publications, from Entrepreneur and Success magazines to The Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Advertising Age magazine listed RE/MAX among the top 200 megabrands in the United States based on advertising spending in the first half of 2004.
RE/MAX Associate and Brokerage Advertising
Because RE/MAX Associates are financially responsible for their own personal promotion items brochures, door hangers, fliers as well as the marketing of their own listings, they are free to advertise as much as they choose.
At RE/MAX, the highest producer in an office pays the same flat fee as the newest member of the team. The object of group advertising is not to market properties, recruit sales agents, or sell franchises. At RE/MAX, group advertising is designed to promote the quality of RE/MAX Sales Associates to the public: It all adds up to more global exposure and countless billions of personal promotion impressions worldwide.
